Joanne Arciuli is an Associate Professor and Australian Research Council funded Research Fellow at The University of Sydney, Australia. Her research addresses a number of areas related to reading and spelling: assignment of lexical stress during the reading aloud of polysyllabic words and nonwords in children and adults, the relationship between individual differences in prosodic awareness and reading ability, the link between individuals’ capacity for implicit statistical learning and their reading ability, literacy acquisition profiles and the efficacy of literacy instruction programs for children with developmental disabilities (e.g., ASD, Down syndrome), and shared book reading between parents and children. She utilises techniques such as corpus analyses, behavioural testing, computational modeling, and brain imaging in her research.
