SSSR 2026 Award Notification Timeline

Notifications begin February 20, 2026, and will proceed as follows:

Travel Awards: All nominees (both accepted and non-accepted) will be notified by February 20.
Merit & Publication Awards: Notices for all other honors will be released on a rolling basis starting in early March.

Note: All applicants will receive a formal notification regarding the status of their nomination.

SSSR Taylor & Francis Award

The SSSR Taylor & Francis Award is given to promising young investigators who have any type of paper accepted at this year's SSSR conference.

Early Career Outstanding Paper Award

The Early Career Outstanding Paper Award is intended to recognize an outstanding paper published in Scientific Studies of Reading by a scholar who has earned their doctorate within the past seven years.

Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award

The Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award recognises empirical, theoretical, or scholarly work or collections of works that have served significantly to further the scientific understanding of reading, its processes, its acquisition, or its instruction.

Rebecca L. Sandak Award

The Rebecca L. Sandak Award is intended to recognize a gifted young researcher who shows outstanding promise and dedication to the field.

Carol Connor Mid-Career Award

The Carol Connor Mid-Career Award is intended to recognize a mid-career researcher in the field of scientific studies of reading, who is currently active in research, and has a distinguished research record over a substantial period.

Travel Awards

The Travel Awards are given to individuals from countries with emerging or developing economies who attend and present at this year's SSSR conference.

Outstanding Reviewer Award

The Outstanding Reviewer Award recognizes the invaluable contribution of volunteer reviewers who have provided quality, exemplary, thoughtful, and timely reviews of manuscripts submitted to the Scientific Studies of Reading journal.

FABBS Early Career Impact Award

The Federation of Associations in Behavioral & Brain Sciences Early Career Impact Award is intended to recognize early career scientists who have made major contributions to the sciences of mind, brain, and behavior.
