Overview

The Carol Connor Mid-Career Award was established in 2022 to honour the memory of Carol Conor, who was a consistently active and impactful member of the Society and was President-elect when she died. The award is intended to recognize a mid-career researcher in the field of scientific studies of reading, who is currently active in research, and has a distinguished research record over a substantial period. Other factors which the Awards Committee will take into account include breadth of research achievement, and contribution to the advancement of the science of reading, e.g., by enhancing the public understanding and esteem of reading research, or fostering links with other disciplines, or stimulating good independent work by young researchers.

The award covers registration fees and entry to the conference social event at either the 2024 or 2025 conference. Award winners will also receive one year’s SSSR membership.
