SSSR 2026 Registration is now closed

Overview

The 33rd Annual Conference of the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) will be held at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre WTC Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from Wednesday, July 15 to Saturday, July 18, 2026. The conference brings together reading researchers from around the world for presentations, workshops, and networking.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Delegates are expected to attend the entire conference, except in cases of exceptional circumstances related to health or religious obligations. Please ensure this commitment when registering.

Welcome Reception: The welcome reception will take place on Wednesday, July 15. The full programme is expected to be released in early June 2026.

Preconference Workshops

AM Session: Demystifying the Peer-Review and Publication Process

The AM session focuses on supporting emerging scholars through multiple aspects of the peer-review academic journal submission process. Techniques will be provided to support attendees in moving research topics from conception to acceptance, including tips for finding a journal home, preparing submissions, and engaging with editors. Lunch (12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m.) is provided for AM session attendees, with additional opportunities for networking and community building.

PM Session: Demystifying the Grant Writing Process

This session focuses on action steps to move grant ideas from seed to funding. Drawing on the diverse expertise of SSSR members, attendees will learn the ins and outs of grant writing—from university seed-grants to large government or foundation grants. Attendees will leave with tools for finding and obtaining funding related to their research agenda.
