Dear SSSR Members,
We hope that you are safe and managing well through these difficult times! We are writing to update you on the status of our July 2020 conference in Newport Beach.
The Board and Executive Committees have unanimously made the difficult decision that the 27th annual meeting will be cancelled. We have been working hard to remain flexible and responsive about the fluid COVID-19 situation, and at the same time not incur substantial liquidated damages by canceling the hotel reservation. After negotiating with the hotel, we will hold the 2022 conference in Newport Beach, California. We very much hope that the 2021 conference will be held in Australia as planned but will be back in contact on this in due course.
If you have already registered, we will refund your conference fee minus the $25 credit card processing fee. Guest room reservations with the Newport Beach Marriot Hotel & Spa have been cancelled, so there is no need for further action.
We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold our conference this year. We will be in touch with you soon about other details (e.g., options of having the abstract of your work deposited at the SSSR website, awards, etc.,). Thank you so much for your patience.
