Clare Wood is currently Professor of Psychology in Education at Coventry University and the Director of the Centre for Research in Psychology, Behaviour and Achievement, beforing becoming professor of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University in May 2017.  Her research interests over the last 20 years include the early identification and remediation of literacy difficulties in children, the relationships between speech and written language skills, and the educational potential of technology.  Her work on the impact of text messaging on literacy skills has received widespread attention in the international media. She has wider interests in pedagogy, special education and neurodiverse populations. In 2000 she was awarded the Reading / Literacy Research Fellowship by the International Reading Association and in 2006 she received the British Psychological Society’s award for Excellence in the Teaching of Psychology.
