Jan C. Frijters, PhD is an Educational Psychologist who specializes in reading disability, motivation, and statistical methods for evaluating intervention outcomes. With over 20 years of experience in implementing and evaluating reading interventions for readers with the most severe challenges, his primary concern is understanding the reasons why children respond differentially to those interventions. His statistical expertise focuses on techniques such as multilevel modeling, person-centered, and structural equation modeling approaches that can help sort out how developmental processes unfold over time and within specific learning contexts. His ongoing research focuses on providing and evaluating intervention, examining the genetic and brain bases for reading difficulties, and examining how neuropsychological and motivational characteristics interact with these factors. His work is currently funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Institute of Education Sciences, and the Manton Foundation.
