NEW: Message from the conference organizer, July 4:
Our 21st annual meeting is just around the corner! I wanted to take this opportunity to contact you one last time before we see each other in Santa Fe with some quick info points and reminders.
Registration for the meeting has now closed and the final program has been posted on the website (please note that the PDF file contains the updated program – the Schedule tab on the website is not yet current). In keeping with our tradition, there will be no paper copies of the program available at the conference, so please print the program at home if you want a hard copy and bring it with you, or download the program to your electronic device.
Breakfast and lunch on July 17, 18 and 19 are included in your registration fee. Breakfast begins at 7:00 am in the Convention Centre at 201 W. Marcy Street. Sessions begin at 8:30 am. The Convention Centre features wireless internet for your convenience.
There will be a welcome reception at La Terraza in La Fonda on the Plaza Hotel (100 E. San Francisco Street) from 5.00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16th. You will be able to pick up your nametags at the table in the lobby of La Fonda that evening, or at the Convention Centre each morning of the conference.
The student preconference will begin at 8:30 on Wednesday, the 16th, in the Convention Centre. A box lunch is provided.
The conference dinner will be held on the terrace of the Convention Centre immediately after the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award address, Friday night, 6:30 – 9:30. We invite those who were not able to purchase dinner tickets to join us after dinner for dancing and a cash bar at 8:30.
Board members, please note the Board meeting will be held on Wednesday the 16th from 2:00 – 4:30 in the Tesuque Boardroom on the 2nd floor of the Convention Centre.
The SSSR business meeting will be held on Thursday afternoon 3:50 – 4:30 pm in the Sweeney North Ballroom; this meeting is open to all members of the Society.
Speakers, please load presentations onto the computer in your designated room as soon as possible. Look for the folder on the desktop that corresponds to your session. Laptops in the rooms are PCs loaded with Powerpoint 2007; we recommend you test your presentation on a similar setup at home to ensure compatibility. As a failsafe, we also recommend saving your presentation as a PDF. If your presentation contains any kind of media file, do not forget to load these on your USB key.
Chairs, please keep strict watch on time of each talk: Fifteen minutes plus five for questions.
Posters can be mounted any time on the day of your presentation, but must be removed at the end of the poster session. Any posters remaining on the poster boards at the end of each day will be recycled.
I’m sure you will love Santa Fe. Bring your walking shoes and be sure you take in some of the amazing arts, culture and history – the Georgia O’Keeffe museum is right around the corner from the Convention Centre. Don’t forget the city is at altitude, and ample hydration is a must. Below, we include some helpful tips about Santa Fe and a small map of the four conference hotels and conference venue.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the meeting! Travel well!
Best wishes,
Lesly Wade-Woolley
