!! IMPORTANT UPDATE April 1 !!

The conference hotel, the Hapuna Beach Prince, has sold out of rooms at the conference rate of $179/$205.  However, it is listing an additional (very small) block of premium ocean view rooms at a rate of $250 plus taxes.  These can be booked by calling the reservations department of the hotel  1-866-774-6236 and be sure to cite the code HGSOCF Society for the Scientific Study of Reading.  (The Society has just signed the addendum to the contract for these rooms, so if they are not yet listed with the reservation department call again in a day or so.)

Overflow rooms are now available at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, which is about ten miles away from the conference hotel.  The airport shuttle service will also deliver to the HWV (see http://www.robertshawaii.com/sssr2015/ to book.) The lowest priced rooms are $189 plus taxes and a mandatory $15 per night resort fee (normally $25 - and includes high speed internet/wifi, free local, toll-free and credit card phone calls, play station 3 access, 20% discount on Lagoon Beach toys, and 10% discount on Ocean Sports).  Parking is an additional fee.  Note that these rooms are currently available only for the core nights of the conference - check in on July 15, check out on July 19.  We are working on trying to get these rates for a few days pre/post, but at the moment they are only available for the core days of the meeting (and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get extensions to other days). The hotel is making these available as a courtesy block, which means that the Society has no contractual obligation.  Therefore, as time gets nearer to the conference, the hotel can sell the rooms out from under us, so if you wish to book these rooms, DO SO WITHOUT DELAY.  Here is the link to book at the Hilton:  http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/personalized/K/KOAHWHH-SSS-20150712/i...  Important: if you try to select days other than check in July 15/check out July 19, it will show no rooms available. We will arrange a shuttle to the Hapuna Beach Prince hotel in the morning in time for breakfast, and a return shuttle after sessions have finished for the day. If you have booked for the conference dinner (luau at Mauna Kea hotel), the shuttle will return you to the Hilton after the luau.

As we have mentioned before, this side of Hawaii is quite isolated, and alternative accommodation is difficult to source.  Therefore I CANNOT STRESS STRONGLY ENOUGH THAT YOU SHOULD MOVE IMMEDIATELY TO BOOK ACCOMMODATION.   Once the rooms described here are exhausted, you must find accommodation on your own.

If your plans have changed and you no longer plan to attend the conference, please advise us as soon as possible so we can make the changes to the program.
